 Culinary vacation in the historic city of Lucca - 3 day (3 nights)With this package you will be staying and learning in one of Tuscany’s most charming small cities. You’ll explore the city’s markets and food shops. Hands-on classes immerse you in the basics of Tuscan cooking.. A day trip to the port town of Viareggio rounds out this intensive program. DATES AVAILABLE ON REQUEST You will be staying at the Hotel San Luca Palace, a 4 Star superior hotel. The original structure dates back to 1540 but has been fully refurbished and features all modern conveniences: air conditioning and heating with independent control, LCD TV with satellite channels, cable radio, direct telephone, internet wi-fi connection, hair dryers, minibar etc. The hotel is located in the center of the historic city of Lucca, a medieval town of lovely towers and broad, calm piazzas; a town full of secrets waiting to be discovered on foot or by bicycle. Staying in the city of Lucca will give you a look into day-to-day Tuscan life Lucca has a wonderful combination of a relaxed mountain town atmosphere, a huge number of architectural and cultural treasures and famous local wines. And although it gets its share of tourists, it almost never feels overrun. Florence is an hour and half away by train, Pisa, Sienna, Umbria, and Bologna all can be reached by train in less than 2 hours. The beaches of Viareggio are a mere 20 minutes away.
1st day - your arrival • Arrival at the airport, or railway station and transfer by minivan to the Hotel San Luca Palace • Aperitif upon your arrival. Time to relax. • Dinner at a charming trattoria with the Chef Giuseppe and your cooking colleagues. Introduction to the next days programs.
2nd day - first cooking class, shopping for Tuscan specialties, a walking tour of Lucca • After breakfast, a discovery of the Tuscan deli shops and small markets of Lucca. • With the morning's grocery shopping done, a hands-on class focusing on: antipasti ( appetizers), a pasta course with traditional sauces, and a main course. Complimented with classic wines of Tuscany. • After lunch a guided walking tour of Lucca’s city centre: world famous for its walls surrounding the town, Lucca has conserved its medieval character during the centuries. Medieval streets, palaces, monuments, the renaissance gardens, the piazzas and friendly cafés. • Dinner will be on your own. Lucca features a myriad of fine dinner choices.
3rd day - a visit to Viareggio and a cooking class featuring fresh fish. • After breakfast, a visit to the nearby coastal town of Viareggio: a stylish and exclusive resort whose sea side promenade is lined with majestic hotels and shops. • A visit to the fisherman’s wharf of the old port. • Lunch at an atmospheric sea-food trattoria especially selected by Chef Giuseppe. • Return to Lucca. Time to relax. • Afternoon class with a sea-food theme. The class will terminate in a farewell dinner, paired with selected Italian wines.
